Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Paro – Transfer to Thimphu (1.5 hrs drive)
Highlights: Paro Valley, Iron Bridge, Tashichho Dzong, Buddha Dordenma
- Arrive at Paro International Airport, greeted by your local Bhutanese guide.
- Drive along the scenic Paro-Thimphu highway, passing traditional villages and riverside landscapes.
- En route, stop at Tachog Lhakhang Iron Bridge, built by the great bridge-builder Thangtong Gyalpo.
- In the evening, visit Buddha Dordenma, one of the world’s largest Buddha statues overlooking Thimphu Valley.
- Explore Tashichho Dzong, the majestic fortress-monastery housing the King’s office and the central monk body.

Day 2: Thimphu Sightseeing – Cultural Encounters

Day 3: Thimphu to Punakha (3 hrs drive)

- Drive across Dochula Pass (3,100m) with stunning Himalayan views and 108 chortens (stupas).
- Continue to Punakha, the ancient capital of Bhutan.
- Hike through rice fields to visit Chimi Lhakhang, the fertility temple dedicated to the Divine Madman, Drukpa Kunley.
- Visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong, one of Bhutan’s most beautiful fortresses, located at the confluence of Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers.

Day 4: Punakha to Phobjikha Valley (3.5 hrs drive)
Highlights: Phobjikha Valley, Gangtey Monastery, Nature Walk
- Drive to Phobjikha, a glacial valley famous for its scenic beauty and winter home of the Black-Necked Cranes.
- Visit the serene Gangtey Monastery, an important Nyingma Buddhist center.

Day 6: Paro – Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang)

- Embark on a hike to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang), perched dramatically on a cliff at 3,120 meters.
- Legend says Guru Rinpoche flew here on the back of a tigress and meditated for three months.
- After descending, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred temples in Bhutan.
- Evening: Enjoy a farewell dinner with traditional Bhutanese music and dance.
