Centered around Bumthang, Bhutan’s spiritual heartland, this trek takes you through ancient temples, rural villages, pine forests, and open meadows, offering a perfect balance of soft adventure and cultural immersion.
Before reaching Bumthang, you’ll enjoy sightseeing in Paro, Thimphu, Punakha, and Phobjikha, including the iconic Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest). The journey concludes with a scenic drive back to Thimphu and Paro, wrapping up an unforgettable Bhutanese experience.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Paro – Valley of the Thunder Dragon
Arrive at Paro International Airport where your guide will greet you with a warm “Kuzu Zangpo La!”.
Visit Paro Rinpung Dzong, Ta Dzong (National Museum), and stroll through Paro town.

Day 2: Hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest)
Start your Bhutan journey with a hike to the sacred Taktsang Monastery, perched dramatically 900 m above the valley.
Enjoy panoramic views of the Paro Valley and picnic lunch near the monastery.
Return to town and relax in the evening.

Day 3: Paro – Thimphu Sightseeing
Drive to Thimphu (1.5 hrs), the capital city of Bhutan.
Visit Buddha Dordenma, Memorial Chorten, Textile Museum, and Tashichho Dzong.
Explore the vibrant Centenary Farmers Market and local craft shops.
Overnight: Hotel in Thimphu
Day 4: Thimphu – Punakha – Phobjikha (Gangtey)
Drive over Dochula Pass (3,100 m), adorned with 108 stupas and offering majestic Himalayan views.
Descend to Punakha, visit the spectacular Punakha Dzong, and take a short hike to Chimi Lhakhang (Temple of Fertility).
Continue to Phobjikha Valley, home to the endangered Black-Necked Cranes in winter.
Evening walk around Gangtey Monastery and nature trail.

Day 5: Phobjikha – Bumthang via Trongsa
Drive to Bumthang (6 hrs) across Pele La Pass (3,420 m).
Stop at Trongsa Dzong, the ancestral seat of Bhutan’s kings, and visit Ta Dzong Museum.
Arrive in Bumthang by evening.

Day 6: Bumthang Cultural Trek Begins – Jakar to Ngang Lhakhang
Start your trek through charming villages and fields.
Visit Jambay Lhakhang, Kurje Lhakhang, and Tamshing Monastery, three of the most sacred temples in Bhutan.
Camp near Ngang Lhakhang (Swan Temple), famous for its mythical origins.
Trek Distance: 13 km | Time: 5–6 hrs | Camp Altitude: 2,850 m
Day 7: Ngang Lhakhang – Tahung
The trail ascends gradually through forests and meadows.
Enjoy the tranquil scenery and the sound of mountain streams before reaching Tahung for an overnight camp.
Trek Distance: 16 km | Time: 6 hrs | Camp Altitude: 2,800 m
Day 8: Tahung – Tang Valley – End Trek – Drive to Jakar
Descend to Tang Valley, visiting Ugyen Choling Palace, now a private museum preserving Bhutanese heritage.
Meet your vehicle and drive back to Jakar for a comfortable night.
Overnight: Hotel in Bumthang
Day 9: Explore Bumthang – The Spiritual Heartland
A full day to discover the sacred valley of Bumthang.
Visit Kurje Lhakhang, Jambay Lhakhang, and the beautiful Mebar Tsho (Burning Lake).
Evening leisure or optional traditional hot stone bath to relax after the trek.

Day 10: Bumthang – Thimphu
Drive back to Thimphu via Trongsa and Punakha, with scenic photo stops along the route.
Arrive in the evening and enjoy your final Bhutanese dinner.
